Fees/ Assistance with Costs

As we operate on a non-profit basis it is important that bills are paid by the due date. Invoices are presented at the beginning of term with a `pay by’ date in the middle of that half term.

There are currently two schemes in place that assist parents with the cost of childcare.

Pre-School Vouchers

These are available in the term after a child’s third birthday and are valid for 38 weeks of the year for 5 sessions of 2.5 hours per week. The voucher covers the cost of the session completely and The Cottage Team Leader will provide you with the appropriate form when your child is eligible for the vouchers.

Child Care Vouchers

Where can you get them?

An increasing number of employers are offering these vouchers as part of their employee benefits package. A taxpayer can save about £1000 per year when the maximum value voucher is used. This is possible by the employer supplying vouchers to their employees and deducting the voucher amount from the employees gross pay before tax and NI are deducted.

In the first instance you will need to speak to your employer to see if they run a scheme that you can join. If not then don’t despair as often employers wait to be asked before offering to start a scheme. A third party company usually administers the vouchers. St. James Cottage doesn’t recommend any particular scheme but we have drawn this information from www.childcarevouchersdirect.co.uk and www.childcare-vouchers.net. These would be a good starting point for further information.

Where can you use the vouchers?

Child care vouchers can be used to pay for any of the normal forms of child care such as Pre-school, After-School club or Holiday Club. The only stipulation is that the child must be between 0 and 15 years and that the provision must be OFSTED registered.
