October 2007 Newsletter
Welcome to all the new children who have joined the Nursery and After School Club this term and ‘Welcome Back’ to everyone else. We hope you have all had a good summer break, despite the awful weather. We have several events organised for later this term and full details of these will appear in the next newsletter. Provisional dates are as follows:
St James PFA Xmas Fayre Saturday 24th November 2007
Nursery Nativity Friday 7th December 2007
Nursery Xmas Party Friday 21st December
Photographer
The Photographer will be visiting the Cottage on Tuesday 6th November at 12.00 midday. Parents of all children in Nursery and Caterpillars are welcome to bring their child along (younger brothers and sisters can also be photographed). Please let us know if you would like to attend as the photographer is only booked until 12.30 pm.
Questionnaire
We have recently distributed Questionnaires to all families who use the various sessions provided by the Cottage. It is important that we receive feedback from parents about these sessions in order to provide the child provision parents require. If you have not already returned your questionnaire, please could you take a few minutes to complete it and post to Emma Craigmile in the stamped addressed envelope provided. The latest date for Emma to receive them is Friday 12th October.
Holiday Club
There are still a few places available for the Holiday Club during the October half term break (Monday 22nd October – Friday 26th October). We have 3 activity sessions planned, at no extra cost, Seasonal Cooking – Lanterns & Toffee Apples on Monday 22nd October, Multicultural Music on Tuesday 23rd October and Football on Friday 26th October. If you have not already booked a place please call in and speak to Carol Potter as soon as possible.
St James Cottage T-shirts and Sweatshirts
We have pink, sky blue and navy T shirts (£4.50) and navy sweatshirts (£8.00) for sale so that your children can have their own ‘uniform’! We also have some 2nd Hand uniform available. Please speak to a member of staff if you would like to purchase any.
Website
As some of you already know we have found a way to raise funds for St James Cottage and St James First School PFA whilst you are shopping online. All you need do is go to our website: www.stjamescottage.co.uk and click on the home page link to start shopping with many well known names such as M&S, John Lewis, Early Learning Centre, Amazon. There is no extra cost to you and we receive a percentage of your shop. This could be a huge fundraiser for us, especially with Christmas approaching, but it needs people to get into the habit of going through the shopping website. Give it a go, enjoy your shopping and raise some funds for us. Thank you.
You can also find up to date information about the Cottage – newsletters, minutes of committee meetings, policies etc.
Garden Project Update
We are awaiting planning permission for the shelter before commencing work on the outdoor play area. However we have recently purchased a covered sandpit some wooden toadstools for the book area and some wooden steppingstones.
Staff Vacancies
There will be a vacancy in January for an SEN Assistant, 2 afternoons per week. If you would be interested in this position please call in for an application form or contact a member of staff for further information.
Can you help?
Do you have a toddler type back carrier that you know longer require? If so, please let us know as one of our members of staff would like one to carry a 1 year old.
